Presented by Bacardi USA Inc., the 7th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week kicked off with “Taste of the Gables” on June 5, 2014. The event took place at the beautiful Westin Colonnade located in Coral Gables and featured 20 Coral Gables restaurant newcomers and veterans alike as they served some of their finest dishes. The restaurants battled for attendees’ votes to become the “Best Taste of the Gables.” As invitees, we made our way through all of the restaurant stations and sampled bites from several Coral Gables restaurants. This event definitely assisted us on what restaurants to explore during the 7th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week.
Swine Southern Table and Bar prepared their popular small plate Hush Puppies. The Hush Puppies are made from Deviled crab, celery, and smoked trout roe. These little guys were great. We then made our way to Sushi Maki. Being the sushi lovers that we are, we found ourselves getting back in line for seconds. Ceviche Divino brought out their perfectly cured fish ceviche that was divine. Open Stage Club had samples of their Tuna Tartar; Books and Books offered their Curried Chicken Salad atop Cous Cous; Flemings had their Three Citrus Ceviche and Burrata Crostinis; and La Giralda presented their Garbanzos Fritos (fried chick peas) just to name a few.
All restaurants present served some pretty amazing samples but there could only be one winner! Congratulations to the “Best Taste of the Gables,” Uvaggio for their delicious Octopus “Naranja Agria.”
For the next three weeks, you will be able to experience some of the same delicious foods on prix-fixe menus at discounted prices during the 7th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week beginning June 9 – 29, 2014.
