Heat Too Much for Bulls in 94-91 Game 5 Thriller, Advance to East Finals!

by Aaron Golobowich on Wednesday, May 15, 2013

So much for the Chicago Bulls winning Game 1 in Miami, right? The Miami Heat won four in a row since, and have advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals for the third straight year. The Miami Heat look to either face the New York Knicks or the Indiana Pacers in the next series. I was predicting an MIA vs NY Eastern Conference Finals, but it seems as if NY will not be playing much longer as the Pacers have taken a commanding 3-1 lead on them. Last night, the Miami Heat got off to a fast start that saw them go 18-4 in the first quarter to set the game’s tone. But, the Chicago Bulls did not want to go out without at least putting up a good fight. The Bulls took command of the game and led through three straight quarters into the 4th. The Heat then turned it on and took out the Bulls in a 94-91 thriller to move on to the next round. (more…)

Miami Heat Stick it to the Raging Bulls to Win 104-94

by Aaron Golobowich on Friday, May 10, 2013

These Semi-Conference Finals seem to be getting more and more physical as the games are played. The only difference is, the Miami Heat are not having it. The Chicago Bulls continue to wear themselves down after their Game 1 victory with their excessive physical play against the reigning world champs. The Miami Heat continue to keep their cool and do what they do best, play the game of basketball and focus on the win. The Miami Heat have regained home court advantage in this series and look to take a 3-1 lead back to Miami on Monday when these two team get back at it for Game 4. It was a close game throughout all quarters until the Miami Heat went for the kill that would’ve left a Spanish Bullfighter in awe. Tempers were flaring from the start of the game with pushing and shoving from Nate Robinson, Chris “Birdman” Andersen, Joakim Noah, Nazr Mohammed, and Lebron James. Ultimately, Nazr lost his cool on a play with Lebron that resulted in an unexpected shove that called for an immediate ejection. Lebron James didn’t shoot the ball quite well in Game 3 going 6-17 because of the physicality of the game but went perfect from the free-throw line on 11-11 shooting. (more…)

Miami Heat Annihilate the Chicago Bulls 78-115 in Game 2

by Aaron Golobowich on Wednesday, May 8, 2013

Miami Heat fans, now this is what happens to the opposing team that beats the Heat in Game 1 and gets cocky about it, they get destroyed! The Miami Heat killed the Chicago Bulls in Game 2 and showed them who are the defending NBA Champions! The game was filled with emotion and testy attitudes that featured nine technical fouls, two players ejected, and a multitude of personal fouls that lead the Miami Heat to the free throw line 29 times while converting 22 of them into points. It really didn’t help the Bulls do anything but get flipped off by an angry Heat fan. Our bench contributed 55-points where 21 of them came from Ray Allen and 18 from Norris Cole. (more…)

Chicago Bulls take down Miami Heat in Game 1

by Aaron Golobowich on Monday, May 6, 2013

Well Miami Heat fans, that’s what happens sometimes when you sweep a series and your next opponent’s series goes 7 games, you fall out of rhythm. The Heat have lost Home Court advantage this series, but can quickly regain it with a win in Chicago. The Bulls will present a bigger challenge than the Bucks did to the Heat, but I do not see this series going that far.

I am taking our Miami Heat in 5 games. Lebron did celebrate his 4th MVP and a well-deserved one. Lebron was one vote shy of becoming the first player in NBA history to win the award by unanimous decision that went to Carmelo Anthony. Although the Heat are down 0-1 at the moment, it only took this one loss to get this freight train back on its tracks. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from Game 1. (more…)

Miami Heat take out Bucks 110 – 87 in Game 1!

by Aaron Golobowich on Sunday, April 21, 2013

Well Miami Heat fans, as our record-breaking season has come to an end, our Miami Heat has already gotten down to brass tacks in taking out the Milwaukee Bucks 110 – 87 in Game 1 of the First Round of the East Playoffs! The Heat wasted no time in getting into playoff form. Winning has become the new DNA strand in Miami Heat basketball. The 23-point win marked a complete team effort by Miami which saw its bench contibute 43-points total that included 20-points from Ray Allen and 10-points and 7 rebounds from Chris “Birdman” Andersen. The game was again orchestrated by Lebron James who had an incredibly efficient 9-11 shooting night to still come out for 27-points, 10 rebounds, and 2 assist shy of a triple-double with 8. “That’s about as efficient as you can get. Made that look easier than it was,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said after the game. (more…)

“The Liar” presented by FIU Theatre

by Aaron Golobowich on Wednesday, March 6, 2013

A complete and utter LIE! A spectacular display of deception! FIU Theatre’s cast of The Liar entertains from opening to closing act. Adapted from the original play by Pierre Corneille and written by David Ives, The Liar is an urban comedy about a young man named Dorante (Danny Leonard) who arrives to Paris with one minor imperfection, he cannot tell the truth. Upon arriving, Dorante meets Cliton (Julio Liverpool), a manservant who cannot lie, and travels with him through a series of dishonest encounters.

The play features a cleverly selected cast of actors and actresses that harmoniously bring the characters to life right before your eyes. Danny Leonard ingeniously enlivens the role of Dorante, and turns a sword fight into a monologue. Zach Myers owns the role of Alcippe with his boisterous voice and command of the stage. Lucille Cocco and Mariana Vallejo both dazzle as they play Clarice and Lucrece; the love interests of Dorante and Alcippe. (more…)

Flashback Diner is a local favorite in its respective cities of Davie and Hallandale, Florida. With these two great locations, Flashback offers its delicious menu of homemade-style selections that make you feel right at home.

The Miami Heat are Back 2012-2013!

by Aaron Golobowich on Sunday, October 7, 2012

What’s up Miami Heat fans?!? I don’t know about you all, but I am ready for another slam-dunk season to another Championship this year! Although it has been a short summer for us Heat fans because we took home the grand prize, it has also has been a long summer for us waiting for it to start all over again. Let’s take a brief look at what our Heat are working with this year!

For the most part, our Miami Heat are bringing back its main core in of course, Lebron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. Mike Miller contemplated retirement due to his back issues, but he is recovered and will be back for more. I believe this year we will see the Mike Miller Pat Riley envisioned to have for this team.

James Jones also contemplated retirement but said, “Naaaah!” Every player should feel what a Championship-defense season feels like. Udonis Haslem, Joel Anthony, Shane Battier (who was terrific during the Finals), Mario Chalmers (who earned the respect of many last year, including me), Norris Cole, and Dexter Pittman will all be back on the roster opening day October 30th against the Boston Celtics. Oh My FoodNESS!!: Giovanni’s Cafe!

by Aaron Golobowich on Saturday, August 18, 2012

Giovanni’s Cafe is a combo Peruvian-Italian restaurant delivering a wide variety of dishes and entrées native to both countries. Giovanni’s Cafe is located in an area that one has to be familiar with. The location of the restaurant is not where you would traditionally find a typical restaurant like an urban high-traffic area, but rather in a professional development of business offices.

This place does not need advertising as most people who know about Giovanni’s Cafe are referred by word of mouth. This describes the level of service and quality offered by Giovanni’s Cafe. If you end up visiting this place, you’ll see why we call this place,”A Local Hidden Gem!”

If you are a seafood fan, start yourself off with one of their flavorful Ceviches. They have an array of Ceviches like the Fried Seafood Mix, Mixed Ceviche, Fish ‘n Shrimp Ceviche, and the traditional Fish Ceviche. Try the Fish ‘n Shrimp Ceviche! Spicy, if you like it picante! (more…)

Miami Heat Prevail Thunder Surge in 2nd Half to Win 100 – 96, Tie Series 1 – 1

by Aaron Golobowich on Thursday, June 14, 2012

Nobody said the Oklahoma City Thunder was going to be a walk in the park. The Miami Heat stole a home game from the Thunder and now head back to Miami for Games 3, 4 , and 5. Now that the Miami Heat have home court advantage, this give them an opportunity to finish the series off at home. Game 1 was something to forget about. The Miami Heat lost and there is pretty much nothing to talk about. If we want to pick apart what could’ve happened, we could then start at how the Miami Heat blew a 13 point lead and lost. (more…)

Miami Heat Split Series with Boston Celtics, Return to Miami for Game 5.

by Aaron Golobowich on Sunday, June 3, 2012

The past three games have been a thrill ride if you are a Miami Heat fan. This series is one for the classic reels. The Miami Heat have had their shares of ups and downs in this series and most downs have come in Boston. Boston has done exactly what they are supposed to do.

Boston has protected their home court just like an experienced veteran team should. Now, a “Best of Seven” series has turned into a “Best of Three” series. The Miami Heat head back to Miami for a must-win Game 5 and try and close this out in Boston in Game 6. Game 2 of this series was labeled an instant classic where we watched Rajon Rondo (more…)

Faster and Stronger Miami Heat take down Boston Celtics 93-79 in Game 1 of Eastern Conference Finals!

by Aaron Golobowich on Monday, May 28, 2012

One game down and three more to go in these Eastern Conference Finals Miami Heat fans! The Miami Heat have taken a 1-0 series lead against the Boston Celtics after a 93-79 win at the American Airlines Arena. Miami seems to be clicking at the right time just like they did in last year’s playoffs. If this is going to be a continuing trend in Miami, we’ll take it!

Miami never trailed in this game. We saw a Boston Celtics group come out unmotivated and with absolutely no energy whatsoever. The Celtics did manage to keep the game within 10 points through the first half of the game. The Celtics emerged (more…)

Eastern Conference Finals – Bound! Miami Heat Beat the Indiana Pacers 105 – 93! Win Series 4 – 2!

by Aaron Golobowich on Thursday, May 24, 2012

The Miami Heat will once again contend in the Eastern Conference Finals Heat fans! Our Miami Heat has eliminated those pesky Indian Pacers in a 105 – 93 win and closing the series 4 – 2! Even in the absence of our enforcer Udonis Haslem who was suspended for this game and our missing piece of the Big 3 Chris Bosh, the Heat gang knew it was time to finish this series and rest up for what’s next!

The two-punch combo of Lebron James and Dwyane Wade let the NBA know who is coming back for a second taste of the NBA Finals. The Miami Heat have positioned themselves to face either the Boston Celtics or Philadelphia 76ers. Regardless of who the Miami Heat play, their road back to the NBA Finals looks pretty much guaranteed.

Dwyane Wade had a spectacular performance as Lebron had the other night. Wade scored 41 points along with 10 rebounds and three assists. Lebron finished (more…)

Miami Heat Obliterates the Indiana Pacers 115 – 83, Lead Series 3 – 2!

by Aaron Golobowich on Tuesday, May 22, 2012

If this was not a statement and retaliatory game for the Miami Heat, I don’t know what it could have been. This game was filled with highlight moments from the tip in which we saw numerous dunks, layups, and flagrant hard fouls. Seems like Indiana actually thought they could handle the Heat!

The Miami Heat shot an astounding 61% from the field and not once looked back to see how the Indiana Pacers were doing. They just kept playing. Eleven dunks and numerous layups had Pacers coach Frank Vogel looking for answers where he could not find them. Frank? Stop looking for answers. There are no answers to the Heat in transition. Plain and simple. “We learned early in this series, you don’t get two wins for a blowout,” Vogel said during a post-game interview. I don’t think Frank (more…)

Lebron & Wade Go For 70 Points in the Absence of Bosh, Tie Pacers Series 2 – 2

by Aaron Golobowich on Sunday, May 20, 2012

After a 19 point loss in Game 3 of these Eastern Conference Semi-Finals, Dwyane Wade knew he had to make up for it. We all saw a horrific shooting display that was titled “The Worst Dwyane Wade Playoff Performance” when he shot 2 of 13 for 5 points. Made up for it? Wade scored 30 points, 22 of them came in the second half of the game to tie the series up at two games apiece.

The absence of Chris Bosh has taken a couple of games to get accustomed to. It could not have come at a better time. Wade started the game as he did in Game 3 by missing close range shots and not getting to the rim. The Pacers jumped out to a 9 – 0 lead in the introductory minutes of the game which called for an immediate Erik Spoelstra timeout. Slowly but surely, Wade (more…)

Miami Splits Series 1-1 at Home vs Indiana in Games 1 & 2, Lebron Named MVP

by Aaron Golobowich on Tuesday, May 15, 2012

The NBA awarded Lebron James of the Miami Heat his third NBA MVP trophy in four years and became the 8th player in the history of the NBA to win the award 3 times or more. The Miami Heat went on to beat the Indiana Pacers 95 – 86 in Game 1 while they continue waiting to hear on Chris Bosh’s return.

In Game 1, the Miami Heat lost Chris Bosh for possibly the remainder of this series with an abdominal strain suffered on a dunk while being guarded by Roy Hibbert in the first half of Game 1. Chris Bosh took a pass from Lebron James near the foul line, took one dribble for the hard dunk with his left hand, and collapsed to the floor. In the replays it shows Hibbert slightly affecting his shot but it was nothing flagrant or intentional. It was just a regulate basketball play where we saw Chris Bosh maneuver awkwardly for the dunk. Sun Safety

by Raquel Sanz on Monday, May 7, 2012

Beach weather has finally arrived to beautiful South Florida. This means bathing suits, drinks, and fun with your friends. But what about your SPF protection? Do you know what SPF stands for, or how to choose the right SPF protection for you?

SPF in an acronym for Sun Protection Factor. The SPF number tells you how long you can stay in the sun before getting burned. If you normally start to burn after 15 minutes of sun exposure, an SPF 15 product will let you stay in the sun for approximately 15 times longer (or 3 1/2 hours) without burning. New York Knicks “Beat the Heat” in Game 4 Thriller!

by Aaron Golobowich on Sunday, May 6, 2012

The New Yorks Knicks came through and fought through all of the adversity surrounding the team to pull out a stunning win over the Miami Heat who are now 3-1. The series shifts back to Miami on Wednesday May 9th while the Heat seek to close this one out on their home floor in front of their fans. The game was a complete thrill-ride from start to finish and even more-so the fourth quarter.

Carmelo Anthony had a spectacular game as he helped the Knicks end an 11-year and 13-game playoff drought in New York. The last time the Knicks won a playoff game was on April 29, 2001. Carmelo Anthony put up an amazing 41 point, 6 rebound, and 4 assist performance on a game that went down to the wire.

Amare Stoudemire was back for Game 4 just like he said he would be and put up decent numbers despite that massive cut he sustained right after Game 2. Amare had a 20 point and 10 rebound game which was quite impressive after the picture he tweeted of his hand. Amare’s hand (more…)

Miami Heat Pound New York Knicks 87-70, Take 3-0 Lead in Series

by Aaron Golobowich on Thursday, May 3, 2012

The saying goes, “the series doesn’t start until the home team loses.” Well, it’s official Miami Heat fans, the series has finally begun and soon about to end for the New York Knicks. The New York Knicks are on the brink of elimination in these East Quarter Finals.

Lebron James spent most of the night in foul trouble as he finished the game with 5 fouls, but that didn’t stop him from putting up his usual numbers. Lebron was outstanding despite the foul trouble and scored 17 of his 32 points in the fourth quarter. Eight of those points came on consecutive baskets at the beginning of the period. “Bron came in and got at it right away. He had an unbelievable fourth quarter,” Dwyane Wade said after the game. Lebron James finished the game with 32 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assist, and 2 steals. He also finished with 8 turnovers, but that didn’t matter, Lebron’s fourth quarter explosion made up for it. “He just has to stay with it. He had some turnovers, he had some mistakes, but he was able to keep his head in it,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra stated during a post-game interview.

One player that has been impressing me (more…)
