A food blogger’s fantasy! In continuation of the 7th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week presented by Bacardi, we were invited to attend the first bloggers’ crawl which consisted of two routes for a group over 20 of several top South Florida’s Food Bloggers. We reviewed both routes and elected to go with Route One and tagged along with Adventures of the Foodaholic, The Foodie Teacher, and several others. Each route had five stops at different restaurants participating in the 7th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week.
Both routes began at Swine Southern Table and Bar where all of the bloggers met to depart on their respective chosen routes. Swine is a nice hang-out spot to go after work for Happy Hour and have several of their tasty appetizers. At Swine, (more…)
“Let’s Go!” in Italian, and you’ll know why Andiamo Brick Oven Pizza is called just that! This is our favorite pizza joint when we are in the Miami area and are craving a great pie. Andiamo is a uniquely positioned pizzeria right off of 55th street and Biscayne Boulevard that has been around since 2001. This pizza joint has definitely made a name for itself with people from all over.
The times we’ve frequented Andiamo, we have NEVER left disappointed. They serve quality brick oven baked pizzas that are incomparable. You can build your own pizza, or you can try one of their 26 signature pies. Our favorite signature pie is the Godfather. The Godfather, is THE GODFATHER of all pizzas. This pie comes loaded with (more…)
Well Miami Heat fans, the stars did not align for us to 3Peat this year, but we do have to give credit to the San Antonio Spurs for their incredible run this year and immaculate play of basketball in the 2014 NBA Finals against our Miami Heat. “They played exquisite basketball this series and in particular these last three games and they are the better team. There’s no other way to say it,” Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra said during his post-game interview. The Spurs secured their fifth title since 1999 in this 4-1 series. “It makes last year OK,” Tim Duncan said referring to last year’s collapse to the Heat in the 2013 Finals. (more…)
No team in the history of the NBA has ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA Finals. Can the Miami Heat make history by becoming that first team? Well, Miami has to take it game by game. If any team in NBA history can make such a comeback, it would be the Miami Heat. The challenge begins Sunday as the Heat may play their final game of the season if they are once again taken down by the San Antonio Spurs. Key is, one game at a time. Games 1 and 2 were neck and neck games except in the outcome of Game 1 where the Spurs pulled away after Lebron James departed during “CrampGate.” (more…)
Wine drinking is a massive culture that continues to grow worldwide and wine events and festivals are a great way to experience an array of different types of wines from regions across the world. As frequent attendees of wine festivals all over South Florida, we have become somewhat of wine connoisseurs. We have sampled wines from all over the world of different brands, vintages, fermentation processes, and appellations.
We were recently gifted with a couple of bottles of Verdejo wines by Palacios de Bornos (2013) and Protos (2013). Verdejo is Spain’s signature white grape that originated in Northern Africa and spread into Rueda around the 11th century. Verdejo wines have an excellent stability between acidities and minerality that makes a delicious dinner wine, and is offered in a variety of brands and vintages.
We conducted a blind test to set aside (more…)

We recently attended a convention that required us to travel to Northern Florida. We searched the internet for the best deals in the surrounding areas of St. Augustine, FL to spend our time during our 3-day stay. We found something really nice and reasonably priced at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village Resort by Marriot Hotels.
After reading the reviews and viewing the location’s photos online, we booked our stay. Online, we requested a room with a balcony on a high floor. Upon booking the reservation, (more…)
After Game 1’s “CrampGate,” Lebron James remained hydrated in the days leading up to Game 2. James had a tremendous bounce-back game after cramping up in the fourth quarter of Game 1. “Obviously, having #6 in the game was a plus for us,” Dwyane Wade said after Game 2. James started the 1st quarter of the game with only 2 points which had many thinking he was going to be ineffective because of the cramping injuries sustained in Game 1. James then exploded for 33 points throughout the remainder of the game and left any doubts people had about him behind them. James finished the game with 35 points and 10 rebounds in a comeback win for the Miami Heat to even up the series at one apiece heading back to Miami for Games 3 and 4. “What happened on Thursday was Thursday. My whole focus was how I was going to try to help this team even this up and just try to make some plays,” James said during his post-game interview. (more…)
Presented by Bacardi USA Inc., the 7th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week kicked off with “Taste of the Gables” on June 5, 2014. The event took place at the beautiful Westin Colonnade located in Coral Gables and featured 20 Coral Gables restaurant newcomers and veterans alike as they served some of their finest dishes. The restaurants battled for attendees’ votes to become the “Best Taste of the Gables.” As invitees, we made our way through all of the restaurant stations and sampled bites from several Coral Gables restaurants. This event definitely assisted us on what restaurants to explore during the 7th Annual Coral Gables Restaurant Week. (more…)
Alright, let’s get this one out of the way and put behind us. Miami lost Game 1 of the NBA Finals vs the San Antonio Spurs 95-110 in a fourth quarter meltdown. But not before the AT&T Center meltdown of the arena’s air condition system that had thousands of fans fanning themselves for some sort of ventilation. The on-court temperature reached the 90s for the players on the court. I’ve read all the stupid comments across social media and the news about how Lebron James couldn’t take the heat (no pun intended) which caused his legs to cramp up and force him to sit for the remainder of the game with four minutes left. Some of the comments were funny and sometimes you can’t help but laugh because they are humorous, but when you hear a moron say that Michael Jordan played with the flu in a finals game and compare that to leg cramps, then you’ve earned the moron title. When we crave Peruvian food, we head out on an adventure to find local restaurants that will offer to fix our craving. This time around, we found a fairly new restaurant inside of the 108th street and Pines Boulevard’s south side shopping center. Since we frequent the area, we noticed the place one day and made it a point to stop in to try them out. We’ve visited several Peruvian restaurants in the past, so our taste buds are pretty-well versed in this arena. The place is not that big, but comfortable. Seats a maximum of approximately 50 people. Small, but not cramped. It is your typical mom and pop restaurant. (more…)

The Miami Heat made NBA history on Friday with their thrashing of the Indiana Pacers and closing out the series 4-2 on a 117-92 victory. The Heat have joined the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers as the third team to make four consecutive NBA Finals appearances. “I’m blessed. Very blessed. Very humbled, and we don’t take this opportunity for granted,” Lebron James said after being crowned an Eastern Conference Champion for the fifth time in his career. Four of them with the Miami Heat. “It’s an unbelievable franchise. It’s an unbelievable group, and we know we still have work to do. But we don’t take this for granted. We’re going to four straight Finals and we will never take this granted,” James finished. The Miami Heat are going into the NBA Finals as back-to-back NBA Champions and plan to come out as back-to-back-to-back NBA Champions. (more…)
In its largest ever acquisition and biggest move since the death of Steve Jobs, Apple CEO Tim Cook finalizes the Beats Electronics deal. The purchase was broken down into $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million through 650,000 shares of Apple stock. The deal came as a shock to many industry analysts that are questioning Apple’s move to make such a big purchase on an already established company instead of developing their own products. Apple has established a culture unmatched by any technology company. With the acquisition of Beats, Apple has expanded that culture into a whole new realm. Beats comes with its own culture that is endorsed by a mob of celebrities and professional athletes who have their own fans. It’s a chain reaction. Apple knew what it was doing. That’s what this deal was about. Grasping a whole new demographic. (more…)
