Miami New Drama presents Piaf at Colony Theatre – July 28th

Embark on a journey through Edith Piaf’s life with her most beloved songs on Sunday, July 23rd at the Colony Theatre. Experience how a frail woman who started making a living singing in the streets of working-class Paris went on to become a musical legend.

Piaf’s voice and melodies are instantly recognizable, making it a tremendous challenge for any actress to transform into the role. Mariaca Semprún, known as the “Queen of Musicals” in Venezuela, is up to the challenge. Semprún digs deep to channel her inner genius and pays a gorgeous tribute to Piaf’s voice, art and legacy as she physically and emotionally transform into the legendary singer. Leonardo Padrón, one of Venezuela’s most respected writers, has woven Piaf’s music into a captivating story.

Miami Music Festival presents The Marriage of Figaro – July 28th

The music and characters of Mozart’s beloved Marriage of Figaro have captured the hearts of opera lovers since Figaro’s premiere in Vienna in 1786. Servants Figaro and his promised Susanna prepare for their wedding, only to find that his employer, Count Almaviva, has impure intentions. Fearing that the Count wants to seduce Susanna, Figaro sets about scheming to outsmart him. Meanwhile, the lovely Countess, to whom Susanna is ever faithful, begins to suspect the same and devises her own trap to catch the Count in his mischief. The classes battle in a light-hearted comedy sung in Italian and featuring some of Mozart’s most beautiful melodies.
