Fourth Annual Gala of Hope: Cure Spinal Muscular Atrophy

Ferrari-Maserati of Fort Lauderdale is set to host this year’s Fourth Annual Gala of Hope to Cure Spinal Muscular Atrophy. The Gala of Hope to Cure Spinal Muscular Atrophy is an annual campaign that benefits the Families of SMA’s mission to find a cure for the leading genetic cause of death of children under the age of two. The disease destroys the nerves that control voluntary movements and decreases the ability to walk, swallow, and control the movements of the head and neck. Fiorenna Israel-Fuentes and Jennifer Miller-Smith, two mothers with daughters suffering from SMA, founded the Gala of Hope to honor their daughters’ fight for survival. The outstanding work of Families of SMA has contributed to major discoveries that include the identification of the underlying cause of SMA.
